Are You Using the 80/20 Rule In Your Personal Training Business?

By Chris Fernandez ¦ January 25, 2010 ¦ Comments 0

I have an interesting question for you.

I know you’ve heard of the 80/20 rule before, also known as Pareto’s Law, but are you applying it to your personal training business and life right now?

If not, you should be!

The 80/20 Rule:

Vilfredo Pareto

Vilfredo Pareto

Essentially the 80/20 rule states that 80% of our outcomes result from 20% of our efforts.

It can also be much more deeply skewed depending on your situation and become more like the 90/10 rule, or 95/5 rule.

In fact, this law applies to so many things that I want to give you a few examples directly related to personal training.

For instance:

* 80% of your hassles and stress come from 20% of your clients

* 80% of your new clients come from 20% of your fitness marketing efforts

* 80% of your happiness and fulfillment are derived from 20% of your daily activities

* 20% of your focused time and effort results in 80% of your results and profits

* 20% of the information you consume, or marketing products you buy account for 80% of your business knowledge and growth

* 5% of your time spent working out (8 hours per week), yields you 95% physique improvement and overall health and well being

I think you get the idea…

This “law” is so universal that it applies to almost every single thing in life, whether personal, business, family, relationship, psychological or otherwise. …Click to read more »

Should You Start a Fitness Blog?

Whether or not you should start a fitness blog depends on several factors.

You have to determine your purpose — why you want to do it — who’s it for, and most importantly, do you even want to do put in the time and effort that it takes to run a successful personal training blog?

Overall however, I think that if you aren’t running a blog, you are seriously underserving your audience and leaving lots of free traffic and potential leads on the table, especially when it comes to health and fitness as there are so many wonderful topics from day to day that can be written about to expand your readership base, traffic levels and ultimately, your personal training business.

There are many reasons that a personal trainer blog or a health and fitness blog could be very beneficial for your target audience, to gain more traffic to your website — or perhaps the blog becomes your website — and ultimately, lead to what you are really after, which is more leads and more income for your fitness business.

So today I wanted to leave you with a few thoughts about fitness blogging, and whether or not you should be doing it for your own business. …Click to read more »
