I Just Got New Braces…and Overcame A Limiting Belief

By Chris Fernandez ¦ February 28, 2010 ¦ Comments 0

(Read/Watch Time: 8 Minutes)

I have something interesting, or rather gross — it all depends on how you look at it I guess — that I went through late last week.

I got braces…and had a front tooth removed.

And at the same time, I overcame a limiting belief in my mind about what that meant for me as a businessman, personal trainer, fitness business owner, and Internet marketer…

I mean, what would people think?

How would I talk?

How would my braces look?

All sorts of stuff was going through my mind, and none of it was EMPOWERING or REASSURING…

Rather it was all negative and counterproductive…

Well, I wanted to share a video with you about my journey on this little trip that I took through my own head, limiting beliefs, and how I eventually turned what could have been a very bad limiting belief and thought into action, power, and something very positive and that now I am extremely happy about.

I will warn you, there’s a really gross part in the video, but it’s rather short, and the rest is really fun.

Here you go:

So the next time you are looking at something in your life or fitness business — whether you are feeling intimidated because you’ve never run a boot camp before, or trained a client with a particular injury, or are nervous about going off  and starting a personal training business on your own — or something else in your mind focuses on the negative and stops you from doing what you know you have to do, remember that no matter what it is, all you have to do is reframe it and look at all the good that will come from that particular action or changing that negative thought into a more powerful and enlightening one.

I wasn’t too excited about getting my front tooth taken out and having a large gap in between my teeth, or my mouth being filled with wires for the next 2 years, but I turned it into some fun (sorry for the gross part in the video!) and can’t wait to show off my new mouth!

If you’ve been following my blog and all of my mindset training for your personal training business for awhile now, you know that I am a big fan of Tony Robbins.

To me he is one of the most influential gurus that we have out there helping us overcome limiting beliefs and has inspired millions of people to change their lives and take action to get to where they want to be through a tried and true proven process that he developed through years of trial and error.

Tony’s passion for helping people live more fulfilling and passionate lives is so powerful that it exudes from every pore in his being, and is reflected in the way he does everything.

So today, because we all struggle with sticking to our true path in life, and sometimes we get derailed while trying to achieve what we really want for ourselves, I wanted to share a powerful video that is germane to us as personal trainers and for health and fitness in particular.

You’ll find out why in the video, so please take about 30 minutes of your day, sit down, relax and just enjoy a very motivating, powerful and inspirational video that will help to get your personal training, boot camp or fitness business mindset back on track and your career pointed in the right direction.

I learned a helluva lot from this video, and it really left me refreshed and renewed thinking about where things are headed with my own fitness marketing business, and I know it will do the same for you.

Grow Your Boot Camp Business By Teaming Up With Hotels

By Chris Fernandez ¦ February 16, 2010 ¦ Comments 13

(Read Time: 15 Minutes)

So I’ve got a small secret to share with you.

For the last 3 months or so, I’ve been heavily involved in a boot camp business franchise that I started with a business partner.

Why?

Because I wanted to get my feet wet and learn more about this particular side of personal training so that I could better serve you and give you some killer tips, tactics and methods specifically for boot camp marketing.

My goal is to start with one boot camp franchise, and then expand all over my local area with many locations (which should be YOUR goal too by the way!) and in the mean time, become a boot camp marketing master to compliment my knowledge of fitness marketing and personal trainer marketing.

I’m still out there collecting data, assessing what does and doesn’t work and refining all of my system and techniques, but today I wanted to pass along an amazing bootcamp marketing tactic that I just thought of and can’t wait to implement because it’s going to explode my business, and it’s going to do the same for yours! …Click to read more »

Would You Spend 8 Hours Trying To Get A Free Breakfast?

By Chris Fernandez ¦ February 9, 2010 ¦ Comments 2

As a personal trainer, we can sure do some strange things sometimes.

It’s natural.

In fact it’s human nature really.

The tendency to want to “win”, come out on top or “hunt/scavenge” is built right into our DNA.

To prove that point, I was watching the Super Bowl, America’s premier sporting event, and saw an ad from Denny’s — sadly this ad must have been really successful because they also ran it last year — where the company gives away a free Grand Slam breakfast between the hours of 6 AM and 2 PM on a certain day.

For those of you that might not know, Denny’s is a…ahem…lower end sit down restaurant chain here in the US that is open 24 hours a day and serves minimalist fare of pretty much anything you want with generous portions of unhealthy fat and cholesterol…oh, and the prices are really reasonable — go figure…

Anyway, I was thinking to myself how absolutely ridiculous this idea was (great for marketing of course!) in terms of time management and resources for anyone that would actually waste their time trying to capitalize on this offer.

Think about it for a second.

Are you telling me that most people out there can’t afford the $5 to just go in anytime and buy your own Grand Slam breakfast whenever you want?

That fact that this promotion is so popular that it made it’s way back for another year says a lot about our society and could say even more about YOU if you were even thinking of getting your “free” breakfast!

In fact, if you are even considering taking Denny’s up on this offer, we’ve got some serious work to do! …Click to read more »

My Article in the Denver Post

By Chris Fernandez ¦ February 4, 2010 ¦ Comments 0

That's me helping Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki get ready for another grueling Major League Baseball season.

(Read time: 2 minutes)

Believe it or not, I’m still a personal trainer!

Yeah, I’m also an info marketer, coach, entrepreneur and all that other stuff, but a part of me still loves training high level and elite clients.

One of those clients, Troy Tulowitzki the starting shortstop for the Colorado Rockies, is getting ready for spring training, and I’ve been training him the last 3 months or so to get him in the best shape of his life so that he can build off of last year’s amazing season where he finished 5th in MVP voting.

At any rate, here’s an article that was written up a few days ago about Troy and his training with me.

You’ll see me in a couple of pictures looking on as he works out.

Here’s the full article:

As I told my Inner Circle coaching clients tonight, it’s important for me to keep “one foot in the door” and still have contact and first hand knowledge about the world of which I teach you about.

So while there might be others out there that pass along their vast knowledge of marketing and getting more clients, how many of them are still personal trainers?

For me it’s a challenge that I really enjoy (helping someone get in the best shape of their life), and allows me to play around and experiment with certain things in terms of marketing, workouts, and all the other stuff that goes into this business.

It was important for me to not only talk the talk, but walk the walk as a personal trainer on the ground helping others out.

Now, of course I only have time for a select few clients annually (I usually train no more than 1 person at a time because of all my other responsibilities), but doing this as well as running the other aspects of my “live” personal training business allow me to fine tune and learn things that I can then pass along to YOU!

Every single day I am experimenting with new ad strategies, marketing tactics, sponsorships, business operations, and on and on, all in an effort to LEARN more…

I hope that by doing so — in addition to serving my own passion to help elite athletes and clients take their careers to a whole new level — I can continue to learn and teach you how to build a successful and thriving personal training business.

Anyway, here’s the link again to the Denver Post article about Troy and I:
